Create Christmas Card in CorelDraw – A Quick Guide
CorelDraw is professional Graphic Design software. It has very easy user interface and wide range of tools which gives excellent vector illustrations and page layouts. New features, like animation, photo editing and precise tracing tools,
make it a gigantic apparatus but still it has its own perception in the minds of Graphic Designers and other users.
In Asian countries, it is very popular and basic software to train the students of Designing, but in European countries and USA corresponding item is Adobe Illustrator. Any way at the moment I am not writing a comparison, rather just want to introduce some basic features of this worthy software with regard to Christmas.
If you want to get a comparison then this post is really simple and gives a lot
CorelDraw Vs Adobe Illustrator
This tutorial will gives an understanding of basic tools and their use. Due to its flexible design, variation is so easy and can be done according to choice and perception. So I will emphasize on creating the components then you will assemble yourself to give it a final shape.
Step 1:
First step is to create background with some gradient and solid red bottom. Draw a rectangle Width 6 Inches and Height 4 Inches. Turquoise is first color and white is second in the gradient while the angle is -90 degree.

In the bottom draw another rectangle with 0.5 inches height. Fill with red color.

Write “Designing Mall” with font “Kingthings Christmas 2” and size 30 pt.

Step 2:
In this step we will create Christmas trees. We have used star tool, with 5 corners and 50 Sharpness, no of times in this card so adjust stars yourself.

Draw green rectangle with suitable height and width.

Convert it to curve (Ctrl + Q). Choose “Shape Tool” and select top right corner of green rectangle.

Add a node in the top middle.

Just remove right and left node, then you will get

Now add a node in the bottom middle by selecting left bottom node.

Raise this node a little bit so it gives tree look

Now just draw a red rectangle for its trunk and some starts to make it Christmas tree.

Step 3:
Create the second Christmas tree. Take a red rectangle and make a copy that you will use to have different colors of tree by placing this copy on the back side to trimmed one which we will create shortly.

Now we have to create a trimmed one, take a copy and fill with different color, rotate it 270 degree and make an overlap with first one.
Create copies of new rectangle upward

Select all and trim them.

Fill with white color and place a copy of red rectangle behind this one. If you use two objects then it is very easy to change the main color or left red branches (behind the trimmed rectangle). So tree is ready

Step 4:
In this step we will create Christmas Hallmark. Draw a rectangle while “Ctrl” Key pressed so you exactly draw a square (1.42 Inches approx.). Fill with burgundy color and create a copy little inside with red color.

Create a third copy with no fill color but change its outline options to color white, width 1.0 pt and choose a dotted line style.

Write Merry Christmas in the center with font “Forte” and size 20 points. You can use a little white circle to give hole effect on the top. Rotate 30 Degree counter clock wise.

Step 5:
Write “Happy New Year 2012” on a suitable place and you can download this font as well

All components are ready now just assemble them and use your esthetics to place the white circles and stars. You will get the final image like this
