Colorful Light Burst Text
This tutorial of Adobe Photoshop explains the burst text effect. During this tutorial you will learn not only the text effect, you will also learn about the Channel, save selection, blur, stylize and distort filters.
Final image will be like this. so let’s start

Step 1: Create new document in Adobe Photoshop
Open a new document in Photoshop (Ctrl + N) with 560 X 400 size having standard resolution of 72 pixel.

Step 2: Add Text “DESIGNING MALL”
Add text DESIGNING MALL by pressing T or by using text tool. Prefer thick or heavy type of Font to get better text effect. I have used Impact.
Apply suitable font size. I have used 80 pt. Make sure the text color is Black.
Align the text in the center of the document by using alignment options.
Step 3: Rasterize Text Layer
In Adobe Photoshop we have to Rasterzie Text Layer” before using any filter. So we Rasterize Layer by right clicking on layer from layer palette and choose
option rasterize.

Step 4: Select Designing Mall and Save Selection
Select the text by Ctrl + Click through layer palette and then by using Channel palette Save selection as Channel.
Photoshop Tutorials: The selection is now saved as a new channel, "Alpha 1", in Photoshop’s Channels palette.

Step 5: Fill the Layer with White and Set the Blend Mode to "Multiply"
Through Edit Menu or Shift + F5, Fill the layer with white while setting the Blend Mode to Multiply.
Step 6: Apply The Gaussian Blur Filter and Solarize Filter
Choose Filter Menu, Blur and then Gaussian Blur, in the dialog box enter a Radius of 4.0 pixels and press OK to apply.

Choose again Filter Menu Stylize and then Solarize. After choosing this option document will look black while text will appear as a white stoke.

Step 7: Lighten the text by using Levels Option
Even white stroke of text is dull and darken. So Select Image Menu, Adjustment and then Levels or use Ctrl + L. Move the given pointer to adjust the brightness. (roughly input levels may be 0-1.0-128 approx).


Step 8: Duplicate Layer and Apply Polar Coordinate
Duplicate the working layer and Select Filter, Distort and then Polar Coordinate with “Polar to Rectangular”. Press OK. It will look bit strange

Step 9: Rotate the Canvas 90 Degrees and Invert the image
Select Image menu, Rotate Canvas then select option 90 Degree Clockwise.
Invert the image Ctrl + I.


Step 10: Apply "Wind" Filter Three Times and Invert again
Select the Option Filters, then Stylize category have option Wind. Be sure the direction is From the Right.
Again use Ctrl + I to invert the image


Step 11: Apply "Wind" Filter Three Times more and Auto Levels
Select the Option Filters, then Stylize category have option Wind. Be sure the direction is From the Right.
Choose the Image menu, Adjustments and then Auto Levels or Ctrl + Shift + L

Step 12: Rotate the Canvas 90 Degree CCW
Select Image Menu, rotate canvas and then selection the opetion 90 Degree Counter Clockwise.

Step 13: Apply Polar Coordinate Filter again and set layer blend mode to screen
Filter menu have the option Distort. Select Option Polar Coordinate. This time select option regular to polar.

When you will change the layer blend mode to screen through layer palette, this will reveal the original layer. Then your overall file will look like this

Step 14: Add gradient fill layer and set blending mode to "Color"
Through the option “Create new fill or adjustment layer” in layer palette, select the option “Gradient”. In the Gradient styles, Select very first one which is black and white bydefault. I have changed the color to red and orange CMYK: 0, 100, 100, 0 left and on right CMYK: 0, 50, 100, 0.

Select the blending mode for this layer to “Color”

Step 15: Apply Radiant Blur to Original Text Layer
Apply Radiant Blur to the original text layer with the following setting.

Step 16: Load the saved selection and fill with black color
To load the saved selection, in the Channel Palette, select the last layer of “Alpha 1” with “Ctrl + Click” this will select text only.

Then fill black color (Ctrl + Back Space). So here the image is ready.

Note:
You can have some color variations by changing the Gradient Color in step no 14. Some variations are as follows.
