<acronym>

This tag was used to describe acronyms (abbreviation, word formed by initial letters like NATO, NASA, SARC) in HTML 4.  But now we have to use <abbr> instead of <acronym>.

<applet>

This tag was used for embedded applets but now it is not supported. <object> tag is its replacement.

<basefont>

This tag was used to define a default font-color, font-size or font-family for the whole text in a document, although it was not used frequently, but now there is no alternate except to use CSS.

<big>

Again this was not usually used tag to make text bigger. However the use of CSS is the only option which is easy too.

<center>

This was widely used tag to center the text or contents etc. but now again we have to use CSS. Not supported in HTML 5

<dir>

This tag was used to define a directory list. You can use <ul> in its placement

<font>

This was commonly used tag, especially when I and lot of us learn HTML initially. Please readers switch to CSS again because it is also not supported in HTML 5.

<frame>

There was a time when frames were attraction for developers and this tag was used to define a frame within a frameset but it is not supported in HTML 5. Similarly

<frameset>

We were using this tag to define a frameset, through which multiple windows were organized. This is not supported in HTML 5.

<noframes>

As frame and frameset are not supported so subsequently this tag is not supported as well. This was used to display text for browsers that do not handle frames.

<strike>

This tag was used on a very less occasions. It produce strikethrough effect . It is not supported in HTML 5. You can use <del> instead of this tag.

<tt>

Not supported in HTML 5, used to define teletype text. Again use CSS to style elements.

<u>

Very old and widely used which was used to write underlined text. Again use CSS because it is not supported in HTML 5.
